These nuts are also rich in fats, with 100g containing 44.3g of fat, primarily unsaturated fatty acids. What's more, peanuts are packed with various vitamins including A, E, C, and B, along with carotene, and they're completely cholesterol-free. Additionally, they're a good source of dietary fiber and offer essential trace elements such as calcium, iron, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, zinc, selenium, copper, manganese, and iodine. They're also loaded with nearly 20 different amino acids.
Consuming peanuts in moderation can help lower the risk of metabolic syndrome and prevent cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. It's especially advantageous for heart health.
Apart from individuals with allergies, who should consume peanuts in moderation include:
- Hyperlipoproteinemia: For those who dealing with hyperlipoproteinemia and needing to manage saturated fatty acids and cholesterol intake, peanuts may not be the best choice. They're high in fat and calories, which can pose challenges for this condition.
- Gout: For those dealing with gout, it's wise to steer clear of foods rich in purines. Peanuts, being high in both purines and fats, aren't ideal for aiding uric acid excretion.
- Gallbladder removed: If you've had your gallbladder removed, remember that without its storage function, bile release is altered, affecting digestion and absorption. Given peanuts' challenging digestibility, it's advisable to limit your intake.
